Hello,
We are once again at the end of one year and the beginning of another, and I’m starting to see many people taking stock of how it went: that it went well, that it didn’t go so well, that they travelled a lot, that they studied flat out, that they had a lot or a little “luck”, and many other things, almost all positive. That’s for sure.
For me, this year has been special. I’m still alive. I’m still here… and I’m moving forward.
A few years ago I learned that what matters can be summed up in two things: having health, and having the people you love in your life.
You might say that’s obvious, but it isn’t. Very often we don’t see it or we forget because it’s very easy to get distracted. We don’t realise how simple things are, and that what matters is not doing a review once or twice a year, but doing it daily. Give thanks (to whoever you want) for being alive, for having your family with you, for being able to walk, laugh, and even cry with them.
Sometimes life gets complicated and we focus only on our frustrations and anxieties, and at other times things go so well that we forget what’s important, feeling on top of the world. We’re so basic.
Time has made me truly aware that we are only passing through, and although I do not intend or suggest “live every day as if it were your last”, the reality is that that fact is something we will never know with total certainty, and we will never be clear about the probability of it either.
So today, enjoy yourself, live life to the full with your family, hug them, kiss them, laugh, eat, tell them how you feel, be with them as much as you can, visit them if you can, and if you can’t but you feel like doing so, do it even if only virtually. Life passes in a very curious and swift way… don’t forget it.
There isn’t really a year that ends and another that begins. Time is something we invent. Life doesn’t know whether it’s Monday or Thursday, whether it’s 16:00 or 2:00, or whether you’re in Spain, Germany, Mexico or Colombia. It simply passes and that’s it… so what matters is what we do with the time we spend in this world, and how we enjoy our most personal feelings… you know, “the rest is silence”.
I want to wish you a fantastic day, but not just for today or tomorrow, rather that you have it always, all the time, throughout your life, and that while we’re here, may it be for you a constant adventure… but the good kind, the beautiful and memorable kind.
A very big hug, and I hope we see each other soon! ✌🏻🙂
